Construction Updates for December 17, 2004The school grounds really look like a construction site these days! New signs including the Lycee logo, Coakley Williams and JFW are highly visible as one enters the campus. Huge equipment such as backhoes, large digging machines and transporters are reshaping the vast area of the future high school. Currently, excavation for the pipes and sewer installation is taking place. When we resume classes in the New Year, the building area will be full of equipment and the perimeters of the building should be visible. Coakley Williams, the builders, are extremely focused on the final date for completion of the high school and have impressed upon the subcontractors that we must be ready for the opening of school in the Fall. They have responded with a plan to accelerate work, especially during the times school is not in session, such as holidays and weekends. At this writing, large equipment is still moving earth and laying pipes at 5 PM on a Thursday evening. We can expect work to continue late into the days ahead. Construction of the water management pond in the South West corner of the property is moving more quickly now that the rain of the past two weeks has gone. The pond should be almost completed during the Christmas holiday. In January/February the architects will create a board that will be shared with students, faculty and parents to give the school community a chance to see samples of the wall colors, carpets, railings and other interior appointments. More information will be posted in January about when this will be ready. We thank those of you who continue to respect the parking regulations and signs. We remind others to please obey the signs that are posted regarding parking times. Have a safe and happy holiday season! |
