La réussite de nos élèves dans le monde de demain commence aujourd’hui, à Rochambeau ! Parce que notre mission est de les préparer à relever les défis, à assimiler les enjeux et à saisir les opportunités, voici la 5ème édition du RocHackathon !

 

Le programme "RocHackathon" est un projet basé sur les objectifs de l'Agenda 2030 des Nations Unies pour le développement durable. L’objectif numéro 6, l’eau, est le sujet de prédilection ces dernières années.

Ce projet porte sur la sensibilisation aux enjeux du développement durable, le travail en équipe (team building), la prise de parole en public, l'organisation des idées et la motivation. 

Il permet à chaque élève participant d'acquérir une logique de résolution de problèmes par l'innovation, grâce à un processus de réflexion efficace.

 

Tous les élèves de Première ont travaillé sur le projet RocHackathon (BF et IB). Ils ont effectué des recherches, identifié des problèmes (dimension locale) et réfléchi à une solution pour y répondre afin d’offrir une proposition innovante, réaliste et réalisable.

Pour mettre en avant leur travail, 8 groupes de 3 à 5 élèves ont eu l'opportunité de présenter leur solution devant un jury ce mardi 8 avril.

• Annika Hedberg, Experte en climat et développement durable.

Elle est actuellement membre senior non résident de l'Atlantic Council, un groupe de réflexion basé aux États-Unis, et conseillère principale du European Policy Centre (EPC), un groupe de réflexion indépendant sur la politique européenne basé à Bruxelles, en Belgique. Elle suit et analyse les évolutions de la transition écologique en Europe, aux États-Unis et outre-Atlantique, et elle s'exprime et écrit sur des sujets connexes. Avant de s'installer à Washington, Annika a dirigé pendant 14 ans les activités du European Policy Centre en matière de développement durable, travaillant sur un large éventail de sujets, notamment le climat, l'énergie, l'environnement et la santé. Elle a également travaillé au Finnish Business and Policy Forum EVA, un groupe de réflexion politique à Helsinki, et au ministère finlandais des affaires étrangères. Elle est titulaire d'un master en droit international public de l'université d'Helsinki et d'une licence en relations internationales et en histoire de la London School of Economics.

• Amel Mellouk, Conseillère en Énergie, Climat et Environnement à l’Ambassade de France aux États-Unis.

Forte de 17 ans d’expérience dans les secteurs de l’énergie et de l’environnement, elle a travaillé aussi bien dans le secteur privé que dans diverses administrations, tant centrales que déconcentrées. Mme Mellouk est ingénieure généraliste, spécialisée en génie des procédés appliqué à l’environnement.

• Agnele Mangeot, professeure d’histoire-géographie au collège et au lycée et responsable de la coordination des projets Éducation au Développement Durable (EDD) à Rochambeau.

Elle connaît bien les enjeux climatiques et s’est formée sur plusieurs aspects, notamment en gestion de projet et communication. Engagée dans la sensibilisation aux défis environnementaux, elle est membre de l’association des Freskers de D.C., contribuant ainsi à la diffusion de la Fresque du Climat (Climate Fresk).

Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today: The Rochambeau RocHackathon!

 

At Rochambeau, we're dedicated to preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. That's why we proudly present the 5th annual RocHackathon!

The "RocHackathon" is based on the objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, goal #6. For several weeks now, our 11th-grade students (French Bac & International Bac) have been working in teams to develop innovative but realistic solutions to solve water issues.

The project focuses on awareness of the challenges of sustainable development, teamwork, public speaking, organization of ideas, and motivation.

The project allows each participating student to acquire a problem-solving logic through innovation, thanks to an effective process of reflection. Students have been researching, identifying problems, and thinking about solutions to address them to come up with an innovative, realistic, and feasible proposal.

To showcase their hard work, eight groups of 5 to 7 students presented their solutions to a panel of judges on Tuesday, April 8th.

Many thanks to the members of the jury:

• Annika Hedberg, climate and sustainability expert.

She is currently a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, US-based think tank and a Senior Adviser to the European Policy Centre (EPC), an independent European policy think tank based in Brussels, Belgium. She monitors and analyses green transition developments in Europe, the US and across the Atlantic, and speaks and writes on related topics. Prior to moving to DC, Annika spearheaded European Policy Centre's sustainability activities for 14 years, working on a wide range of topics, including climate, energy, environment, and health. She has also worked at the Finnish Business and Policy Forum EVA, a policy think tank in Helsinki, and at the Finnish Foreign Ministry. She has a LL.M. in Public International Law from the Helsinki University and a BSc in International Relations and History from the London School of Economics.

• Amel Mellouk, Energy, Climate and Environment Advisor at the French Embassy in the United States.

With 17 years' experience in the energy and environment sectors, she has worked both in the private sector and in various central and decentralized administrations. Ms Mellouk is a general engineer, specializing in process engineering applied to the environment.

• Agnele Mangeot, history and geography teacher in secondary schools and is responsible for coordinating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) projects at Rochambeau.

She is well versed in climate issues and has received training in a number of areas, including project management and communications. Committed to raising awareness of environmental challenges, she is a member of the D.C. Freskers association, contributing to the dissemination of the Climate Fresk.
