MCPS has the means (personnel and vehicles) to assess the condition of the roads across the county to determine if it is safe to have both parents and school buses drive to school, and for safe access of students to bus pick-up points. As Rochambeau does not have such resources, we therefore rely on the county’s expertise in that area.  Diverging from the county’s recommendation with no visibility on road conditions could put our families and bus riders at risk.

We advise that you register to receive the alerts from Montgomery County. Both campuses will be following the same decisions.

Yes, for grades 3-12 (CE2 to Terminale).  The school calendar includes 170 days of mandatory instruction per the Maryland State Department of Education, which we must follow, with a minimum of 3 make-up days. 

Pivoting to remote learning on a snow day allows us to count that day as an instructional day without having to use the make-up days in the school calendar, thus reserving those for days we have not had time to prepare.

• That will depend on the grade level.  If all three makeup days in March have been used, then extra day(s) will be added to the end of the school year

• Note: as Preschool (TPS,PS, MS) is not subject to mandatory days of instruction, no days will be added to the end of the year

Without this policy, we would have to go back to 5 snow make-up days in the calendar which would extend the length of the school year.

If make up are required:

• For the make up days in March:  Regular clubs and before/after care will be provided

• For end-of-year additional days: Clubs will no longer be offered. 

The after school activities that were missed will not be reimbursed as those fees already reflect possible missed sessions due to early dismissals or snow days.
