  • Lieu : YMCA Bethesda Chevy Chase (piscine intérieure)

Dear families,

We are proud to announce the relaunch of the Rochambeau Swim Club, a program that thrived at our school for many years!

Please note this is a competitive club, separate from the swimming lessons taught as part of PE, where students learn to swim. It is open to students from 6th to 12th grade who want to progress in a structured, demanding sports setting.

We anticipate some of you may wonder why this program starts on Saturdays only, rather than during the week. Renewing our partnership with the YMCA Bethesda Chevy Chase required significant negotiation, and at this time the YMCA has no weekday availability. We've therefore chosen to launch this first year on Saturdays, with the goal of expanding the offering in the future if availability allows.

The program

  • Location: YMCA Bethesda Chevy Chase (indoor pool)
  • Day: Saturdays, groups organized by level — Beginner/Intermediate 4:00–5:30 PM, Advanced 6:00–7:30 PM
  • Length: 25 sessions, starting Saturday, October 24, 2026, excluding school breaks
  • Price: approximately $1,195 per student for all 25 sessions (lane rental and coaching included)
  • The first session will serve as a try-out; groups will then be formed by level rather than by grade, to offer training adapted to each swimmer
  • Competitions: none are included in the price this first year. Depending on swimmers' profiles and motivation, we may enter some of them in early competitions during the year (additional fees would apply)

Optional add-on: General Physical Preparation (PPG)

For the most competitively engaged swimmers (mainly High School, 9th–12th grade), we're offering an optional second weekly weekday session focused on strength and conditioning. Two time slots are being considered: 3:45–5:15 PM or 5:45–7:15 PM at school. The slot and weekday will be set based on the availability of interested students (please share your availability for both slots in the form). This would let motivated athletes train twice a week. Pricing for this option will be shared separately, once interest is confirmed.

Your coach: Grégory Moulin

A PE teacher at Rochambeau, Grégory brings strong experience as both a competitive swimmer and a coach. Trained at the Versailles and then Massy clubs, he competed at the French N1 Championships (50m/100m freestyle, 50m/100m butterfly), placing 3rd in the 100m butterfly. Alongside his athletic career, he completed a student-athlete program at Université Paris-Sud, then joined Team Vert & Or at Université de Sherbrooke (Canadian university circuit). He also coached young swimmers at the French School of Jakarta, some of whom competed at the Asia-Pacific Championship for French schools abroad. Now a triathlete, he has completed Ironman 70.3 Les Sables-d'Olonne and is aiming for Eagleman 70.3 this year. He looks forward to bringing this experience to Rochambeau students — building technical skills alongside a love of effort and self-confidence.
