 Dessiner à la manière de Lois Mailou Jones, artiste afro-américaine 

 

 

Certains de nos élèves, de CP et CE1 & CE2 immersion, ont appris les techniques de dessin de Lois Mailou Jones et se sont exercés à réaliser leurs propres illustrations dans le style de cette incroyable artiste afro-américaine. Ils étaient impatients d'essayer ses nouvelles techniques et ont fait un magnifique travail en rendant hommage à cette peintre et illustratrice exceptionnelle ! Dans le cadre du programme de vidéoconférences en classe organisé par le Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM), nos élèves de 4e ont participé à une session dédiée à la célébration du patrimoine des artistes afro-américains. Ils ont pu découvrir la diversité des œuvres d'art créées par ces artistes et les événements historiques, sociaux et culturels, ainsi que les expériences de vie, qui ont inspiré leur travail. Cette présentation (voir les captures d'écran sur Facebook) et la discussion leur ont permis de :

• Réfléchir et discuter de la diversité des styles et des sujets représentés dans les œuvres des artistes afro-américains ;

• Comprendre l'influence des traditions africaines, ainsi que des mouvements sociaux et politiques des XIXe et XXe siècles, sur le travail des artistes afro-américains ;

• Utiliser le vocabulaire visuel pour formuler des observations et des interprétations des œuvres d'art.

 Drawing in the style of Lois Mailou Jones, African-American Artist 

 

Some of our 1st, 2nd & 3rd graders learned about the techniques of Lois Mailou Jones and practiced making their own illustrations in the style of this amazing African American artist. They were eager to try their new techniques and did a beautiful job honoring this exceptional painter and illustrator!  Virtual Class programs in African-American Art 

 

As part of the program of classroom videoconferences organized by The Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM), our 8th graders participated in a session dedicated on Celebrating the heritage of African American Artists. They learn about the diverse body of artwork created by these artists and the historical, social, and cultural events, as well as the life experiences, that inspired their work. This presentation (see screenshots on our Facebook page) and discussion allowed them to:

• Reflect upon and discuss the diversity of styles and subject matter represented in African American artists’ work;

• Understand the influence of African traditions, as well as the social and political movements of the 19th and 20th centuries, on the work of African American artists;

• Use visual vocabulary to articulate observations and interpretations of artworks.
